Apple chose the National Association of Broadcasters show in Las Vegas this week as the backdrop to announce its latest version of Final Cut Pro.

Version 10.2 adds some key new features like 3D titles and a number of advanced color and masking effects. There's also some speed optimization, a number of new workflow features, and some bug fixes.

The Compressor companion app gets an update -- version 4.2 --  which makes it easier to create a video that someone can submit to the iTunes Store.

The new version marks the 15th free update to Final Cut Pro since Apple radically rejiggered the app in 2011.
