Back when Microsoft first introduced the Windows Phone, the company claimed that it would handle the process of updating the operating system.
Five years later, it seems like they actually mean it.
A blog post on the Microsoft Ignite blog post about Windows for Business announced:
Here at Microsoft, we take our responsibility to keep Windows secure seriously.We follow up on all reported security issues, continuously probe our software with leading edge techniques, and proactively update supported devices with necessary updates to address issues. And today, we're announcing this continuous update process applies to all Windows 10 devices, including phones.
It appears that, if your phone is currently running Windows 10, Microsoft is assuring that you'll receive all relevant updates. A representative from the company confirmed the announcement to ZDNet, who added:
Microsoft's Denim update, for example, was announced last September but still isn't available on AT&T's Lumia 830, T-Mobile's Lumia 635, and a handful of other phones. Verizon was the first to release Denim as an over-the-air update, but only after it had continuously rejected the previous (Cyan) update, leaving owners of their flagship Windows Phone device running a badly outdated version.
Last week, Microsoft released a new preview of Windows Mobile 10, which includes the Windows Store Beta, support for universal Office apps, and four new apps: Xbox, Music, Video, and Camera.
