Application-centric security startup Illumio picks up $100M
Illumio, a startup that has built software that lets admins easily set security policies for companies’ applications, announced $100 million in new funding today.
New investors Accel Partners and BlackRock Funds participated in the new round of funding. Andreessen Horowitz, Formation 8, General Catalyst Partners, John Thompson, Marc Benioff, and Jerry Yang also participated.
Docker, the startup that kicked off the container revolution, raises $95M
Docker, arguably the hottest enterprise startup around, is announcing today a new $95 million round of funding, just seven months after revealing its previous round. Insight Ventures led this most recent round, while Goldman Sachs, Coatue Management, and Northern Trust all contributed.
Movidius raises $40M to make visual sensors for the Internet of Things
Movidius‘ vision is to build the visual sensors for the Internet of Things, making everyday things smart and connected. And that vision helped the company raise $40 million in funding today.
The investment was led by Summit Bridge Capital (a joint venture between Atlantic Bridge Capital and WestSummit Capital) and new investors Arch Venture Partners and Sunny Optical Technology Group.
Two-factor authentication startup Duo Security raises $30M
Today enterprise-level two-factor authentication startup Duo Security announced a $30 million raise and the launch of new services. Redpoint Ventures led this latest round, which saw participation from existing investors Google Ventures, Benchmark Capital, True Ventures, and Radar Partners.
Personal assistant startup Hello Alfred raises $10.5M
Today New York-based startup Hello Alfred announced a $10.5 million raise led by NEA and Spark Capital. The company says it will use the new funds "to invest in its automation platform and continue the rapid growth of the company’s user base to new cities."

Node startup Npm Inc. scores $8M
Npm Inc., a 1-year-old startup that maintains an open-source registry and package manager for storing and sharing packages, or modules, of JavaScript code, is announcing today that it’s secured $8 million in funding.
Also today, the startup is launching Private Modules, a premium service for handling proprietary bits of code.
Pocket raises $7M and launches a new responsive web app
Pocket, the service that lets you save content from across the web to read or watch later, has raised a further $7 million to grow its team and launch new products.
Led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), this latest round takes the company’s total funding to $14.5 million to date, and sees Dayna Grayson, a general partner at NEA, join Pocket’s board of directors.
Ascend raises $1.5M to launch loans where you can bet on yourself
Today Ascend Consumer Financial announces a $1.5 million seed round and the launch of its inaugural product, RateRewards, which introduces dynamic pricing into consumer loans.
The company’s seed round was led by Mucker Capital, with participation from OCA Ventures, Birchmere Advisors, and the venture arm of Securian Financial Group. Carlson said the money will be used to staff up for operations and marketing.
