For any sizable enterprise, it is a managerial role, and may or may not report to a higher-up data executive. Likewise, it may or may not be responsible for the integration and management of data within a company (although often it will) and/or the machine learning (ML)-driven, predictive and prescriptive analytics function that may fall under an enterprise's data science function.
